Three of the best ankle boots for autumn

Boot weather is here and will be for months to come. Unless we have a March heat wave, we’ll be stomping around in our boots for the next six months at least.

I’m going to skip over the long boot trend that’s big on Insta and focus instead on ankle boots. They are by far the easiest boots to wear as they go with everything. They look great with trousers, dresses and skirts which makes them one of the most useful pieces in the wardrobe. Ankle boots are also brilliant for smart casual/ working from home wardrobes if you are tired of your slippers!

The high street has done an excellent job of assessing what we need in these strange times we are living in. We want new items to help us feel that we haven’t completely lost touch with fashion but we also need comfort as, let’s face it, who want to totter round in heels in the kitchen!

Here is my pick of ankle boots that will see you though rain, shine, fog, lockdown and 10pm curfews!

Track soles

One of this autumn’s biggest trends thanks to Prada and The Row. Now copied by most of the high street at more accessible prices, thankfully!

Arket chunky leather boots, £175

Combat

Less bling than a biker boot and slightly more refined than Dr Martens, the combat boot is a brilliantly versatile style. It’s a good style if you have chunky calves and ankles as you don’t have to worry about it being too narrow at the top.

Russell & Bromley combat boots, £225

Cowboy

This style combines two new season looks as it’s a cowboy boot with a square toe. If like me you remember this trend the first time round you might be lucky enough to have a vintage pair at the back of your wardrobe.
