The trends to avoid this season!

Don’t put these clothes in your shopping basket.

Every season there are new ‘in’ trends. Some of them are great and will look good on most people…. And some are best left to avant grade photo shoots in the glossy mags.

I’m often asked by clients what trends are in each season, so I thought it would be helpful to share the trends that you definitely need to give a wide berth this autumn!

Because there are a huge amount of new trends out there, and some are definitely more wearable than others.

Here are my pick of the trends to avoid right now!

Cutouts

I’ve come across many beautiful dresses recently only to see on closer inspection that there’s a massive hole cut out of the midriff. Tops such as the one above are clearly not designed for those of us without washboard stomachs. Of course I’m not jealous of people that can wear these cut out garments…well, maybe a little!

Body Suits

Not to be confused with the extremely useful jumpsuit as the trend is essentially a leotard with legs! I’m sure it’s very liberating but give me a good old cotton boiler suit any day! Here’s Vogue’s take on the body suit trend.

Logos

If you’re ever not sure if a trend is for you then a good tip is to imagine what your style icon would wear. I can’t see Kate Moss or Audrey Hepburn ever dressing head to toe in logos so it’s a no from me. If, however, your style icon is Daniella Westbrook…..

XXL Bags

It’s a contradiction to say it’s a handbag when you could fit a small child in it, isn’t it? I can’t for the life of me work out why you would want something so big that isn’t on wheels. This is a very funny article on the subject from the Huffington Post which describes what happened when the writer commuted with an extra large tote bag.

Croc Stilettos

Just when you thought the original croc was bad enough (for adults), they bring out a stiletto version! Words escape me. They are truly the stuff of nightmares and cost $850!
