The coats to buy now

One thing is for sure, you’ll need a decent coat this winter! We will be spending a lot of time outside to escape our four walls and to be vaguely sociable for the next few months.

A coat is the single item that will make the biggest impact in your wardrobe. Finding one you love will work wonders to lift your mood and let’s face it we could all do with that at the moment.

I often find that clients have very smart coats and ‘functional’ outdoor coats but nothing in between. Now, I know an outbound anorak is very practical but it can leave you feeling far from stylish when worn meeting friends outdoors and in pub gardens!

It’s no surprise that puffer and quilted jackets are flying off the shelves this season as they are versatile, warm and comfortable. They look great even when battling the elements and mean you can avoid looking like you are going on a hike!

One quick tip is to choose quality over trend and invest time as well as money to ensure you get the right one for you. Consider the cost per wear as a great coat is an investment that will be in your wardrobe season after season.

Here is my round up of the best styles to buy now.

There is no blending in with the grey skies in this puffa jacket. It has lovely contemporary seaming and drawstring detail which keeps it looking modern. The fabric is water repellent and made from recycled polyester so it’s stylish and enviromentally freindly.

Zara puffer jacket £49.99

This check puffer is slightly cropped so would work well for petite body shapes. It will inject life into any winter wardrobe and look great with jeans.

Weekday check puffer – £90

I love the mix of check and quilting in this style. It is smart enough to wear for formal occasions too – should we ever need a formal wardrobe again! It’s also full length so ideal if you like to keep your bottom warm!

Baum Und Pfergarten Deadra coat– £399

If you find puffer jackets too erm…puffy, then then this slimmed down style is ideal for you. Cinching in the waist with this belt creates a flattering hour glass shape but you can wear without it too. I love the shine of the black fabric but I’m not sure I’d wear it with the shiny trousers as pictured! It comes in other matt colours too.

Rains Trekker W Coat – £205

This long quilted coat is warm but lightweight so ideal for layering. This type of style is all over Instagram and many of the influencers are styling it with a leather belt. It’s versatile too so looks just as good with jeans as it does pictured here with leather trousers.

Arket quilted coat -£90
